The latest version of the famed offroader, Mahindra Thar, was booked by over 75,000 clients, but the bulk of them are still waiting for delivery since just one-third of orders have been fulfilled, according to CarblogIndia.
This is a sizable amount, and there might be a few compelling reasons for the situation. The car was launched last year and received an unprecedented response in the first month of its release.
The Thar offroader costs between Rs 12.78 lakh and Rs 15.08 lakh ex-showroom. In the segment, the vehicle competes with the likes of Gurkha by Force.

Mahindra may not have anticipated such high demand for the lifestyle offroader. As a result, no manufacturing strategy was developed to meet such high demand. The manufacturer said that it would rapidly increase the offroader's production output based on the first reaction.
Even after this announcement, it took about a year for various car trims to arrive in a substantial number of locations.

Mahindra Thar has transformed India's lifestyle off-roading industry. The vehicle is an excellent combination of off-roading and a robust framework on the SUV and daily driveability and convenience. This is why customers flocked in record numbers to get their hands on the SUV. However, as a result of this, around 66 per cent of bookings remain unfulfilled.

The major reason for this is an inability to forecast SUV demand. Another major factor is a scarcity of semiconductors, which has afflicted the worldwide auto sector. The vehicle's waiting time was lengthened as a result of these factors. Due to identical circumstances, the introduction of the company's much-anticipated XUV700 was also delayed significantly. This newest addition to Mahindra's car lineup received 50,000 reservations in only two days. If the firm does not have a product plan for it, it may repeat Thar's narrative.
