Will it be art movie or runaway hit this time for state Film Awards

Undoubtedly, Rishabh Shetty's directorial venture 'Kirik Party' was a super-duper hit. The 'Belageddu...' track from the movie had remained on number slot for many months, setting a precedent for Sandalwood. Similarly, movies like 'Godhi Banna Sadharana Maikattu', 'Allama', 'Santheyalli Nintha Kabeera', 'Ishtakamya' and 'Niruttara' were well received by the audience for their 'out-of-the-box' content and beautiful execution. ' However, it remains to be seen who will win the critics’ choice.

A committee headed by renowned director Kavitha Lankesh will announce the winner for the year 2016. Veteran actor Jayanthi, music director V Manohara nd producer KV Chandrashekhar are in the panel.

The panel is scanning through 126 movies - both bridge and commercial movies - that are on its list. Besides, movies in other languages - Tulu, Konkani, Lambani and Banjara - are also the list of panel.

It is learnt that nominees for Dr Raj Kumar Award and Puttanna Kanagal Award to be given to veteran actors will be announced on April 13.
