The Film Federation of India has recommended 'Rudhramadevi' to be India's submission for the 'Best Foreign Language Film' category in the Oscar Awards. 

If the Oscar committee chooses, it may select 'Rudhramadevi' to be part of the competition. 

The news of Rudhramadevi recommended for Oscar has been confirmed by the movie's director Gunasekhar. 

The director tweeted - "FilmFederationOfIndiaRECOMMENDED #Rudhramadevi for the #OscarAward in the category of 'BestForeignLanguageFilmAward'"

The movie was released in 2015, and it is the India's first historical 3D film. It portrayed the story of Queen Rudramadevi, who ruled the Kakatiya kingdom. 

Rudramadevi has already won awards like Filmfare Awards South, SIIMA, CineMAA Awards and Apsara Awards, etc.

Starring Anushka Shetty in the leading role, the film also featured Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Krishnam Raju, Vikramjeet Virk, Prakash Raj, Nithya Menen, Baba Sehgal and Catherine Tresa. 

The film became the fifth highest opening day grossing Indian film of 2015.

Director Gunasekhar is currently planning to make the biopic of 'Prathapa Rudrudu', the grandson of Rudhramadevi.
