Susanne Bier to helm next James Bond film?

Susanne Bier to helm next James Bond

First, Daniel Craig reportedly turned down a multi-million-pound deal to star in two sequels to Spectre. Later, Sam Mendes also confirmed that he won’t be returning to the series. So the next big question naturally was - who on earth will direct the next Bond movie?

While Sam Mendes did an excellent job with the last two entries in the Bond series, his refusal to return left the top spot open. After a year-long hunt, according to a report from RadioTimes, director Susanne Bier is in contention to direct the next instalment in the franchise.

Bier is a Danish filmmaker who is known for directing the BBC spy drama The Night Manager. The Tom Hiddleston starrer show established her credentials as an action director. She has also directed Hollywood movies like In a Better World, After the Wedding and Brothers and Serena.

If the news is true, she will be the first woman to direct a Bond film.  She will also be one of the few women to direct a blockbuster film with a budget larger than $100 million.

It also will be a reunion with Tom Hiddleston for her as well.
