Narcotics Control Bureau arrests Bollywood actor Ajaz Khan

Mumbai: The Narcotics Control Bureau today arrested actor Ajaz Khan after he was interrogated over possession of contraband drugs.

The actor was taken into custody yesterday, March 30, from the Mumbai airport upon his arrival from Rajasthan.

The agency had recovered alprazolam tablets from his residence during searches in the city's Andheri and Lokhandwala areas.

The actor is reported to be a part of narcotics peddler Shadab Farooque Shaikh and Shadab Bhatata's syndicate, the NCB said.

Shaikh was arrested last Thursday, and over 2 kilograms of the banned mephedrone drug were recovered from him.

Khan was questioned in the NCB office after a revelation made by Batata.

As per media reports, Khan claimed that he was not detained but came to meet the officers by himself.

The NCB has been very strict with its investigation in the drug probe case, especially in Bollywood.

Interrogations, arrests, and searches have been strictly carried regarding the same connection, especially after actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death last year. 

Ajaz Khan was spotted at the NCB office today. In a media statement, the actor said that all the accusations are false.

He said that nothing was found with him at the airport or home. Those four tablets belong to his wife, who was using them to battle depression after a miscarriage.

Now the actor has been sent for a medical check-up before producing before a court in Mumbai for remand.
