How Shilpa Shetty night out turned into a nightmare
Highlights
  • Two photographers were assaulted last night by bouncers outside a restaurant in Bandra, Mumbai.
  • An FIR has been registered at Khar police station and two arrests have been reportedly made so far.

Actor Shilpa Shetty has criticised the manhandling of photo journalists by bouncers of a private security agency outside a hotel.

The incident took place last night when the two photographers were clicking pictures of Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra, while they were coming out of the hotel in suburban Bandra.

According to the police, while the actor and Kundra were moving inside their car, the two bouncers allegedly pushed the photographers, who were taking their photos, and later manhandled them.

The photographer said that when Shilpa and her husband, Raj Kundra, came out of the restaurant, they requested for photo opportunities. But bouncers were getting in the way. The photographer then requested them to move aside so that he could click pictures. That became the point when the bouncers decided to get unruly with them, as per the journalist. You can listen to his complete account in the video above.

Reacting to the incident, Shilpa commented on a video of the fight that has been doing the rounds on social media. She wrote, “Omg ,🙈appalled and disappointed at the way these photographers were bashed up.. Really unnecessary. . I even posed for them before I left and the next thing I knew, they got into fisticuffs violently when I left..Feel bad for the paps they stand for hrs sometimes for a shot..They are part of my fraternity and no one needs to be beaten for doing his job😞.”

The actor, who is currently in Amritsar, added that she is saddened by the incident.

Based on the complaint filed by victims, Sonu and Himanshu Shinde, a case has been booked under IPC section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), rw 34 (common intention), against the two bouncers.

The accused, identified as Kanchi Purve and Kadar, were arrested today.
