Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai on Saturday (July 11) after testing positive for COVID-19. The doctors treating him are worried a bit as the actor recently had a series of liver and abdominal problems.

Currently, Bachchan is undergoing treatment and he is responding well.

Going by his present health condition, it seems the actor may not require any oxygen support and he is not put on a ventilator.

In March, the actor lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s idea of standing by health warriors and expressing gratitude by clapping and later lighting the lamp.

Meanwhile, his son Abhishek Bachchan also has been tested positive for the virus. However the rest of the Bachchan family members including daughter in-law and actress Aishwarya, granddaughter Aaradhya and wife Jaya Bachchan tested negative and are home-quarantined.

On Saturday night, Amitabh had tweeted, “I have tested CoviD positive ..  shifted to Hospital  .. hospital informing  authorities .. family and staff undergone tests , results awaited ..All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested ! (sic).”

Later, Abhishek wrote on his Twitter account, “Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you (sic).”
