Ambareesh passed away on November 24 and Sumalatha's entry into politics ensured that the family name remained in mainstream news almost every day. The last week of May is of course, of special importance to the family.
Ambareesh's wife, actress Sumalatha sought a Congress ticket to fight the MP election from Mandya. But as the party refused to grant her a ticket from the constituency, she contested as an independent candidate supported by the BJP, against JD(S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy.

May 23: Results of Lok Sabha election will reveal fate of Sumalatha Ambareesh in Mandya constituency
May 24: Sumalatha starrer Kannada film Daughter of Parvathamma release date. This marks Sumalatha's comeback to films after a gap of two years. Her previous release Thayige Thakka Maga did not make big waves in box office, but there are huge expectations of Daughter of Parvathamma.
May 29: This is the first birth anniversary of Ambareesh after his death on November 24 in 2018. The family will observe the day in memory of the actor and politician.
May 29: The date also marks the re-release of Ambareesh's most popular and acclaimed movie Antha. The 1981 movie made Ambareesh the most revered actor in the Kannada film industry.
May 31: Ambareesh' son Abhishek's debut movie Amar is set for release on this day. Abhishek will try his luck in Kannada film industry, where his father Ambareesh and mother Sumalatha reigned as king and queen for over a decade in the 1980s.
