Post-poll violence claims another life in Kerala

A BJP worker, who was undergoing treatment after he sustained injuries in an attack allegedly by CPM workers on Wednesday, died at a hospital in Thrissur. 

 

Pramod,33, a resident of Edavalangad near Kaipamangalam in Thrissur district, had sustained serious head injuries in an attack on Thursday. He succumbed to injuries on Friday at the hospital. BJP alleged that CPM workers in the locality were behind the attack and called for a dawn to dusk hartal in Thrissur on Saturday. 

 

The CPM workers, who were celebrating the victory of the LDF candidate at Kaipamangalam attacked party workers including Pramod with bricks and stones, the BJP alleged. 

 

Post-poll violence had claimed the life of a CPM worker at Pinarayi in Kannur on Thursday afternoon. Six CPM workers also injured in the incident when a crude country bomb was hurled at a group of workers who were celebrating the victory of their candidate. 

 

Sporadic incidents of violence were reported from across the state after the counting of votes was over on Thursday.
