Tribal activist and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate CK Janu has backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Somalia' comment - which took Kerala by storm earlier. 

 

"If you want to see Somalia in Kerala, come to Wayanad. You can witness the starvation and poverty in the tribal colonies there," she said.

"There is nothing wrong with the PM's comment. The situation is so bad that some families even had to bury bodies of their dear ones in their verandah for lack of space," Janu said.

 

Her comment comes at a time when the people and political leaders of Kerala were irked by the a similar comment by the Prime Minister. The comment took social media by storm and Facebook and Twitter overflowed with statements ridiculing the PM under the hashtag #ModiinsultsKerala and #PoMoneModi.

Janu is contesting under the banner of Janadhipathya Rashtriya Sabha, which entered into an alliance with the BJP-led NDA.
