Struggling with online lessons, student ends life in Tamil Nadu

A Tamil Nadu based student hanged himself when his parents were away as he was not able to withstand the pressure of online classes. Recently, the suicide of a 19-year-old from Tamil Nadu became a talking point in the issue of cancelling NEET exams

Two days after a 17-year-old girl in Pudukottai took her life because she did not get her hall ticket, now a Class 11 student from Theni in Tamil Nadu, due to pressure mounting to cope with online classes, committed suicide.

The student, who was studying in Trichy, returned home after the pandemic set in March. The victim was given a smartphone to attend online classes. However, he did not find it easy to follow.

He also is said to have told his parents about his struggle of dealing with online classes.

Earlier, a 12-year-old schoolgirl from Rajkot in Gujarat also hanged herself as she faced similar stress and frustration over online classes. The girl could not attend any classes as her parents were poor and could not afford a smartphone.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and handed over the body of the victim after autopsy.
