NIA makes 17 more arrests in Bengaluru riot case; SDPI, PFI leaders links established

The National Investigation Agency sleuths raided houses in Bengaluru and arrested 17 persons with SDPI and PFI background on Monday. NIA said, SDPI leaders held a meeting and conspired the attack on two police stations and personnel.

The ongoing investigation into the deadly Bengaluru violence on August 11 led to 17 more arrests by the National Investigation Agency.

The NIA officials based on their findings raided a few places and arrested SDPI and PFI leaders and the total number of arrests have gone up by 187.

As per reports, Mohammed Sharieff, Bengaluru SDPI President, Imran Ahmed from KG Halli ward and Rubah Waqas, Shabeer Khan and Shaik Ajmal, senior leaders held meetings at Thanisandra in Bengaluru's North-East part on that evening. They allegedly conspired to mobilize a crowd with the intention to attack police, cause damage and panic.

The agency also says that, accused Abbas, head of Nagawara ward mobilised a huge gathering before KG Halli police station along with his associates Azil Pasha, Irfan Khan and Akbar Khan.

To mobilise the crowd using social media, accused Saddam, Sayed Sohel, Kaleemulla alias Shah Rukh Khan instigated Muslims via their social media accounts. The agency is grilling the arrested accused in this connection.

On August 11 a deadly arson took place in which five people died after police opened fire, police stations were attacked and set on fire. Pulakeshinagar MLA Akhandasrinivas Murthy's house was attacked after his nephew P Naveen had posted derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammed.

Taking advantage of this post, MLA's adversaries and SDPI leaders, PFI leaders, Congress corporators staged the riots.
