Pune: Posing as policemen, a gang in uniform barged into a jewellery shop and looted gold ornaments at gunpoint.

The incident happened at Balaji Jewellers in Kapurhol village in Bhor, Pune district, on Thursday (August 6) around 4.30 pm.

It is reported that the unidentified persons, who posed as police personnel in uniform, opened fire, and looted gold ornaments. One of the staff managed to get hold of an accused. However, he opened fire and escaped. Nobody was injured.

The Pune Rural Police rushed to the spot and are now conducting a probe and gathering the information on the sequence of events before they committed the crime.

“Five people came in a car. They were in police uniform and pretended to have brought a suspect for investigation, they entered the shop and committed the crime. Probe is on,” senior inspector Padmakar Ghanwat of local crime branch of Pune Rural Police was quoted, as per reports.

The police team is now  checking CCTV footage to get clues.
