Bengaluru: Four held for online IPL betting
The Bengaluru police have arrested four people allegedly involved in cricket betting during the ongoing Indian Premier League using online apps. The police have arrested and seized Rs 4.91 lakh from them on Tuesday.
Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch is conducting raids at various locations in Bengaluru and have arrested four persons for betting on the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday.
Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil said in a tweet “Three more cases of cricket betting detected by CCB during ongoing #IPL2020. Betting done through online apps”.
Speaking to the media Sandeep Patil said betting was done in the city using applications such as Lotusbook, Cric365day and Falcon.
Raids were carried out at Puttenahalli, Konanakunte and Byatarayanapura police station limits.

The four people involved in it were arrested and Rs 4.91 lakh cash and six mobiles phones were confiscated by the police.
The raids were done by the Bengaluru police as sports betting is illegal in Karnataka, as it is in most parts of India.
