20-year-old North East girl held captive for 3 months, sedated and assaulted by UP man in Meerut

A UP man was arrested from Meerut for allegeldy luring a young North East girl to travel from Delhi during the lockdown. He allegedly sedated and assaulted her, and held her captive for three months.

A Meghalaya girl who just turned 20, had travelled to Delhi for work from Shillong, but was held captive for three months. She was allegedly sedated, assaulted and tortured by an Uttar Pradesh man every day.

The girl trusted the man, a colleague, who invited her to go over and stay with him during the lockdown. The unsuspecting girl went to Meerut from Delhi. The girl who went to her colleague's house in May end, was rescued on August 28 after she managed to  get her hands on a phone and inform her family about her ordeal.

In March end, when the COVID-19 lockdown was enforced, her colleague from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh invited her home.Thinking she could return to Delhi with her colleague and save on rent and other expenses, the 20-year-old went to Meerut. However, her colleague allegedly turned tormentor and held her captive like a slave and tortured her. 

Every attempt of hers to get in touch with her family was foiled by her captor and he would allegedly beat her. After the girl managed to get in touch with her family and narrated her ordeal, the mother approached the police who with the help of UP Police officials managed to reach the location, arrest the accused and rescue the girl.
