With just over a month to go for the Indian Premier League 2021 to resume in the United Arab Emirates, preparations are already underway for the franchises. Meanwhile, a couple of franchises have also been bolstered by the return of their top star.

Delhi Capitals is all set to have the services of Shreyas Iyer back after he missed out on India's leg due to a partially dislocated shoulder. He has reportedly passed the fitness test and cleared for selection by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, reports ESPNCricinfo.

The report adds that Iyer has already travelled to Dubai and is serving the mandatory week-long quarantine before starting training and warm-up sessions. However, it remains unclear if he would be reinstated with the captaincy duties, which was handed over to wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant upon the former's absence.

Nonetheless, it would indeed be a tough call to make by the DC management. Since taking over the captaincy in 2019, Iyer has caused a severe impact, taking the side to the playoffs every edition, besides finishing as the runner-up last season, while Pant too has been impressive this season, as the side remains atop the table.

Other than Iyer, pacer T Natarajan has also passed his fitness test and is eligible for a return to his franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, for the UAE leg. He had suffered a sore knee during India's leg and had missed the matches so far, while SRH desperately needs his services to bounce back from the bottom of the table and get into the playoffs contention.

Meanwhile, ESPNCricinfo also reports that Cricket Australia has allowed its players to participate in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. However, it is onto the players to decide on their participation, as Mitchell Marsh, Josh Hazlewood and Josh Philippe had already skipped the India leg as a part of their workload management.
