Delhi Capitals fans have major good news, as primary skipper Shreyas Iyer is all set to be back in action for the remainder of the 2021 Indian Premier League that would be played in the United Arab Emirates from September 19. He had suffered a partially dislocated shoulder in March against England and was out of action for the opening half of the IPL.

While Iyer underwent successful surgery the following month in the United Kingdom, he made a steady recovery. Also, he has experienced his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, as he has been declared fit by the academy.

As per an official from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, NCA issued the fitness certificate for Iyer, reports PTI. While he was training at the NCA for the past week, his fitness test was conducted a few days back.

Iyer has passed the tests on both medical and physical parameters and is match ready. It also bolsters his chances of making it to the Indian side for October's upcoming ICC World T20.

Iyer had also undergone his rehab with the Mumbai Cricket Association at the Bandra Kurla Complex. However, he had to get his fitness cleared at the NCA, as per the BCCI protocol.

Meanwhile, it is unclear if the captaincy duties would be reverted to Iyer or should it stay with Rishabh Pant, as the DC management would take a call on the same in the coming days. Notably, Iyer had led the side in IPL 2020 final, where it finished as the runner-up, while Pant, too, has been doing a fine job, as the side is currently placed atop the table.
