On Sunday (August 23), India teen prodigy and East Zone vice-captain Vaibhav Sooryavanshi struggled on his Duleep Trophy debut against Northeast Zone at the BCCI Center of Excellence Ground 2 in Bengaluru. His score was 8 (6) after opening with Bengal's Abhimanyu Easwaran.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's much-anticipated Duleep Trophy debut did not go as planned. The 15-year-old batting phenom, who has already made international headlines, scored only 8 runs off six deliveries for East Zone versus North East Zone in the quarter-finals in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Sooryavanshi hit two boundaries in his brief stint at the bat, but he was unable to turn his aggressive start into a large score. His early dismissal disappointed supporters who were looking forward to seeing how the adolescent would manage the challenges of first-class cricket.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Scores 8 in Duleep Trophy Debut.

Sooryavanshi began positively, despite the fact that he was the center of attention. He found the barrier twice. However, his innings lasted only six balls before he was out for eight runs.

The kid was dismissed early in East Zone's innings, providing North East Zone a crucial breakthrough.

Another significant milestone for the teen star

Despite the unfortunate result, the match marks another crucial step in Sooryavanshi's quickly rising career. He was selected East Zone vice-captain, with Ishan Kishan heading the team, marking his first leadership role in zonal red-ball cricket.

Sooryavanshi has lately had an amazing run in Twenty20 cricket, including a great performance for India against Zimbabwe. He has already made his senior India debut at the age of 15.

The Duleep Trophy is a test of his red ball skills.

The Duleep Trophy gives Sooryavanshi a valuable opportunity to improve his longer-format skills. His first-class figures have not yet equalled his spectacular T20 results, thus this competition is very important for his development.

Former India coach Rahul Dravid has also stated that the child requires more exposure to red-ball cricket as he progresses across formats.

For the time being, the 8-run debut is just one inning of what looks to be a long career. As the Duleep Trophy proceeds, Sooryavanshi will be the center of attention.
