IPL 2021: RCB ropes in Scott Kuggeleijn as Kane Richardson's replacement
Scott Kuggeleijn is a New Zealand cricketer who is primarily a batting all-rounder, known for his sound batting and decent fast-bowling skills. Kane Richardson is an Australian pacer who has withdrawn from the 2021 Indian Premier League owing to COVID concerns.
FollowIndian Premier League powerhouse Royal Challengers Bangalore has roped in New Zealand all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn as a replacement for Australian pacer Kane Richardson. The latter had withdrawn from the tournament a couple of days due to India's difficult COVID situation.
Although Kuggeleijn was a part of the reserve team for Mumbai Indians, keeping in mind the current ravel restrictions, the IPL governing council has asked the franchises to release their reserved players for the franchises running short on players, reports ESPNCricinfo. RCB lacked viable overseas pace-bowling options with Richardson pulling out, other than Kyle Jamieson, Daniel Sams and Dan Christian.
On Monday, Richardson, along with Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye, Liam Livingstone and Ravichandran Ashwin, decided to pull out of IPL 2021. Although Ashwin's pullout was a temporary break, the four overseas players were concerned about the current COVID situation in India and feared getting stranded.

As for Kuggeleijn, it would be his second stint in the IPL. Having played for Chennai Super Kings in 2019, he featured in a couple of games, claiming two wickets at an economy of 8.87.
