IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson fined for slow over-rate against Punjab Kings
On Tuesday night, the IPL 2021 saw Rajasthan Royals pulling off a dramatic win over Punjab Kings. However, RR skipper Sanju Samson was at the receiving end for a slow over-rate.
The 2021 Indian Premier League saw a thrilling clash on Tuesday night between Punjab Kings and former champion Rajasthan Royals, in Match 32, at the Dubai International Stadium. It was the latter that turned out victorious by just a couple of runs.
However, despite the win, things did not go right for RR, as its skipper Sanju Samson was sanction for slow over-rate. Consequently, he was fined ₹12 lakh for the same.
"Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League 2021 match against Punjab Kings at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai on September 21. As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr Samson was fined Rs 12 lakh," read a statement from the IPL.
Winning the toss, PBKS elected to bowl as RR came up with a resounding batting display. Although PBKS threatened during the chase, Tyagi's magical final over saw RR through.
