Match 48 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, which concluded in Mumbai Indians (MI) win by five wickets in Abu Dhabi, attracted attention following a verbal spat between Chris Morris and Hardik Pandya after the latter was caught at the covers by Mohammad Siraj.

The heated moment took place in the 19th over of the second innings, when Pandya got out just after hitting a helicopter shot that went for a six.

Match referee has reprimanded both the all-rounders for breaching the IPL's code of conduct. Charges have been levied against both of them.

Later, it was out that Chris Morris has admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. As per the rules, it is imposed when a player is seen using language actions or gestures, which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match.

The other offender, Pandya, has admitted to the Level 1 Offence 2.20 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct after the game, which states of any conduct that is against the spirit of the game.

As the match ended in MI’s favour, they now shine at the top, while RCB rest at the second spot on the points table.
