The young Indians are preparing for their upcoming Sri Lanka tour from next month that would involve limited-overs contests. Since the leading team is in England, preparing for the forthcoming five-Test series for the Pataudi Trophy in August, a second-string side, led by Shikhar Dhawan, is off to Lanka.

Consequently, it would be perfect for some of the young guns to showcase their talents and burst into the international circuit, proving themselves as Team India's potential prospect in the future. As many wonder about who could be the potential candidates, interim head coach Rahul Dravid has revealed that it would not be more than one or two players, besides stating that a couple of selectors would be travelling to Lanka.

The tour would be crucial for India to identify potential candidates for the ICC World T20, set to be held in the United Arab Emirates later this year. Dravid has also stated that he would have talks with the Team India management currently in England and note its requirements for the Twenty20 mega event.

"These are the only three games before the T20 World Cup. I am sure the selectors and management would have a fair idea by now as to what kind of squad they are looking for T20 World Cup…Can't read too much into it (the Lanka series). There might be the odd spots and people might raise their hands up and knock on the doors. I haven't disturbed them (Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri) during WTC, but will touch base with them over the next couple of weeks and see what they are thinking," he said, reports IANS.
