It would be a vital clash for defending champion Windies as it takes on Bangladesh in Group 1's Super 12 tie of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday. Both sides are yet to register a win in the tournament, as a team would win this game, while the other is likely to be virtually knocked out. Here is the preview of this match.

Current form
Both sides have had a weak performance in the competition so far. Windies lost both its warm-up matches and the two Super 12 games. On the other hand, Bangladesh had also lost both warm-ups, besides avoiding a scare in the Group Stage to qualify for Super 12s. Considering this clash, it is hard to predict who has the upper hand.

Team strength & weaknesses, and players to watch out
Considering the teams, Windies is considerably strong in its batting. However, it has been dubious of late. Veteran opener Chris Gayle, along with Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, skipper Keiron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran, have a task at hand. As for its bowling, barring veteran pacer Ravi Rampaul, it is relatively inexperienced.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is lightly heavy on its batting, while its packed all-rounder department is the one to watch out for. Its batting has been admirable, but its bowlers have to work extra hard to make an impact. The focus would be on the likes of Soumya Sarkar, captain Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahman, and a few more.

None of the sides has any injury concerns. Both the teams have met on 12 instances in the format, with the Windies marginally leading 6-5. In the competition, they have met twice, with both winning apiece. The Sharjah weather would be hot with 33 degrees of an expected temperature and 47% humidity. The pitch could remain slow, while the side winning the toss could opt to bowl.

Probable XI
Windies:
Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Kieron Pollard (c), Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Roston Chase, Dwayne Bravo, Akeal Hosein, Hayden Walsh and Ravi Rampaul.
Bangladesh: Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Naim, Shakib al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah (c), Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (wk), Mahedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed/Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman.

Fantasy XI
Batters:
Mahmudullah, Lewis, Naim- Naim and Lewis should give the right start, while Mahmudullah can do the same at number three.
Wicketkeeper: Rahim- He is the only man who has shown promising signs in the department while acting as a finisher.
All-rounders: Shakib (c), Pollard, Mahedi (vc)- Shakib is a no-brainer for his dominance across departments, making him the skipper. While Pollard can do the same in all departments, Mahedi has been highly effective with his spin, making him the deputy captain.
Bowlers: Rampaul, Rahman, Hosein and Saifuddin- While Hosein has been doing great with his spins, the remaining three can surely scalp it out with their sheer pace.
