Pune: On his 35th birthday today (March 26), amid the 21-day lockdown due to the novel coronvirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Indian batsman Kedar Jadhav donated blood to a person in Pune.

Jadhav, who has played 73 ODIs and nine T20Is for India, donated blood to a needy person. Pictures of the right-hand batsman donating blood were shared by Blood Seva Parivar’s official Twitter handle on Thursday (March 26).

“Explosive batsman of Indian cricket team @JadhavKedar In this time of crisis, Ji has set a wonderful example of humanity by donating blood for a very needy person in Pune, @BloodsevaIndia  The family salutes your spirit and hopes to send us a two-minute video message on blood donation (sic),” Blood Seva Parivar tweeted. The original tweet is in Hindi, along with the pictures.

In another tweet, Jadhav was seen speaking in Marathi as he donated blood. Later, the hospital staff sang birthday song for Jadhav.

Jadhav’s gesture received praise on Twitter. A Twitter user lauded him for doing a “good job” on his birthday.

Stand-up comedian Vikram Sathaye said, “Well done @JadhavKedar ! Proud of you (sic).”
