Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has announced that the Coronavirus vaccine will be free of cost across the country.

The Oxford-AstraZeneca-Serum Institute 'Covishield' vaccine is all set to receive Emergency Use Authorisation in India. The Drugs Controller General of India will take a final call on the matter. A government-appointed panel has given the go-ahead to Covishield for emergency use. Here's what you should know about SII's vaccine.  

West Bengal reported 1,153 new COVID-19 cases pushing the tally to 5,53,216. According to the state health bulletin, 26 people died in a single day. however, the COVID-19 death toll in West Bengal rose to 9,738.  

States across India are today conducting a dry run to check the best way to vaccinate people against Coronavirus and to identify loopholes in logistics and training that need to be plugged before the first vaccine shot is rolled out.

Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has announced that initially, only 30 flights per week will operate between India and the UK.

 The Serum Institute of India, the local manufacturer of the vaccine, has already stockpiled nearly 50 million doses and a majority of them will be administered to India.

 However, India's Covid-19 recovery rate improved marginally on Friday, standing tall at 96.08%, according to data shared by the Union ministry on twitter.  

 According to reports so far, with Friday being the first day, also New Year, not all students attended classes.

 India reported 20,036 new Covid-19 cases, 23,181 recoveries, and 256 deaths in last 24 hours, as per Union health ministry.  

The objective of the dry runs is to provide insights on any gaps or bottle-necks during actual conduct of vaccination.
