As part of Vaccine Maitri, India has provided lakhs of doses of covid-19 vaccines to several countries as a gift. It has also provided vaccines on commercial grounds. Anish Singh reports

 A total of 327 students from various districts in Vidarbha region reside at the hostel of the Bhavna Public School, out of which 229 have been infected.

The state registered 8,807 new coronavirus cases and 80 deaths in a span of 24 hours. The numbers are significantly higher compared to Tuesday when the state had recorded 6,218 new infections.  

As many as 16,738 new Covid-19 cases and 138 deaths were reported in India in the last 24 hours, said the Union ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW).

The West Bengal government has made the COVID-19 test mandatory for entry into the state from Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana. Passengers travelling in flights from these states need to produce negative COVID-19 reports at the airport.  

The Bengal government wants to give free COVID-19 vaccine to all the people of the state before the polls. Therefore, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking permission to buy vaccines from private companies.  

The state government and Mumbai's municipal body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has made it clear that they are not in favour of another lockdown in the financial capital.

From March 1, people above the age of 60 and those above the age of 45 with comorbidities will be able to get access to vaccines.

People travelling in flights and trains will have to show a negative RT-PCR test before they start their journey.

India reported over 14,000 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total cases in the country now stands at 1,10,05,850.
