Rajasthan is once again in the news for vaccine wastage with over 480 doses being destroyed due to improper handling of the vials in the Dungarpur district.
According to the Union health ministry, private hospitals can charge Rs 1145 for Sputnik V, Rs 1410 for Covaxin, Rs 780 for Covishield.
“Unlocking at once suddenly last time caused trouble, so this time we have decided to unlock in phases,” said Minister R Ashoka.
AIIMS Delhi will begin screening children aged 2 to 18 years for Covaxin clinical trials. If the clinical trials are successful, India will join the list of countries like the US, China, Germany and others that have approved vaccination for children.
The Centre will allocate vaccine doses to state/UTs based on criteria such as population, disease burden and the progress of vaccination. Wastage of vaccine will affect the allocation to states/UTs negatively, it said.
