The Karnataka government is contemplating unlocking the lockdown in a phased manner by easing restrictions provided Covid-19 infections in Bengaluru come down to 2,000-3,000 and under 500 in Bengaluru.

“Unlocking at once suddenly last time caused trouble, so this time we have decided to unlock in phases,” said Minister R Ashoka.

With the positivity rate down but still at 9.08%, Karnataka mulls opening up in a phased manner. The Chief Minister on Tuesday also hinted about easing lockdown. A decision to this effect is likely to be announced the day-after tomorrow (June 10). The ongoing lockdown date expires by June 14.

However, there is no specific word from government about re-opening of schools and colleges which has left student and parent community guessing all the way. According to reports, the new unlock guidelines may permit Namma Metro and KSRTC busses at 50% capacity.
