Beating Tesla, Lucid Motors' Air Dream Edition becomes 1st electric vehicle to clock 836 km
It is the agency's longest-range rating ever, and the new record offers the forthcoming EV an extra 100 miles of the range above its nearest rival, Tesla. The EPA-rated range of Elon Musk's Tesla S model is 405 miles (around 651 km).

The Lucid Group announced that the Lucid Air Dream Edition Range, their first full luxury sedan electric car, has acquired an official EPA (the Environmental Protection Agency) rating of 520 (roughly 836 km) miles of range. It is the agency's longest-range rating ever, and the new record offers the forthcoming EV an extra 100 miles of the range above its nearest rival, Tesla. The EPA-rated range of Elon Musk's Tesla S model is 405 miles (around 651 km).
In an official statement, the company's CEO and CTO, Peter Rawlinson, expressed his thoughts on the new milestone. He said his excitement that the EPA has officially validated their Lucid Air Dream Edition Range with 520 miles, which he feels is a new record for any EV. Rawlinson noted that the carmaker's in-house EV technology accomplished such a milestone by not just installing an "oversize battery pack." He emphasised Lucid Motors' race-proven 900V battery, which, when combined with 'BMS technology,' downsized motor units, and 'Wunderbox technology,' provides Lucid Air with ultra-high efficiency. He went on to say that the technology allows it to drive further on less battery power, before concluding that the "next-generation EV has finally here."

On their website, Lucid Group released EPA ratings for their different cars/models, including the Dream Edition Performance and Grand Touring versions. Lucid Air vehicles now rank in the top six for overall EPA range ratings among all EVs, as well as the greatest miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent (MPGe) ratings in the big vehicle class.
Lucid may have outperformed their nearest competition Tesla in terms of range by a wide margin, but their vehicles are also far more expensive. The Air Dream R is expected to cost more than $169,000 (approximately Rs 1,24,47,000), whereas the most recent Model S can be purchased for $90,000 (about Rs 1,24,47,000). (around Rs 66,29,000). However, Lucid intends to follow up the Dream Edition with more inexpensive Air versions in the future years.
