Bengaluru: Migrant workers speaking Bengali came forward to donate blood when they came to know that there is a shortage of blood in Bengaluru.

Zia Nomani from Swaraj India was surprised when migrant workers came to him to donate blood. Swaraj India conducted a 100-day campaign to serve the nation during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

The camp was held at a makeshift tent. The camp was conducted by  Swaraj Abhiyan, supported by the Lions Blood Bank and the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health. The health authorities took up all the necessary steps to conduct the blood donation drive with protective equipment. The group collected 80 units of blood from the migrant workers.

Nomani added that these migrants  were harassed and accused of being illegal Bangladeshis but they are ready to donate their blood to those people who they have never met. He also said that Swaraj India is planning to organise multiple blood donation camps on August 15.
