Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has painted a doomsday picture of India post the implementation of the Citizens Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizens.
The Communist Party of India Politburo member even drew a parallel with Myanmar.
Interacting with media persons, Pinarayi said, "If CAA-NRC is implemented, some people think that the detention camps will have members of a particular community. It is natural to assume that. But there is a peculiarity to fascism. We are now seeing it in Myanmar. We don't have to take Germany's example. When Rohingyas were being attacked in Myanmar, the majority thought the targets are minorities and that it won't impact us. Look at what has happened. Now the majority is being targeted. This is the way fascism operates."
"If CAA-NRC happens, don't think it will be limited to a minority community. It will become a camp for whoever is not preferred by the ruling dispensation. Such things should be handled carefully. Every possible step must be taken to protect secularism. That is what UDF and Congress have been unable to do," he added.
