Harish Rawat: "For me, the results are very surprising. I cannot understand that after such massive inflation if this was the public's mandate, what is the definition of public welfare and social justice? I can't understand people saying 'BJP zindabaad' after this."

"Our campaign strategy was insufficient and I accept it as chairman of Campaign Committee. People worked very well and I'd like to thank them. I couldn't win people's trust but I'd like to congratulate my daughter and all the winning candidates who won," Congress leader Harish Rawat.

The PWD, Tourism, Cultural and Irrigation Minister, Satmal Maharaj lost his Chaubattakhal constituency to Congress’s Keshar Singh. There was a strong sentiment of anti-incumbency and voters' discontent that played a key role in the minister’s loss.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accepted the 'people's verdict' during the 2022 assembly elections in five states including Uttarakhand.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who was trailing by more than 7,000 votes, lost to Congress contender Bhuwan Chanda Kapri. Dhami had been winning from the Khatima constituency for the last two consecutive terms and was eyeing on a hat-trick. However, he lost the seat to the Congress contender by a huge margin.

"Only a formal announcement of my electoral defeat from Lalkuan assembly constituency is yet to be made. I apologize to the people of the Lalkuan area, which includes all areas of Bindukhatta, Bareilly Road; I have not been able to earn their trust and I have lost the opportunity to fulfil the election promises made to them. They have selected a better candidate than me as their representative and many congratulations to them and the candidate selected by them; best wishes for the future," said Harish Rawat in a series of tweets.

With a decent margin of votes, Anupama Rawat registered her win for the Grand Old Party. She won her seat from Haridwar rural while her father, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat gave a major setback to the party by losing from Lalkuan constituency. Meanwhile, Congress' s Yahspal also won from the Bazpur constituency.

Prem Chand Aggarwal is all set to create a record as he moves towards registering his fourth victory from the Rishikesh constituency. Aggarwal, a three-time sitting MLA, has contested from the same for the fourth consecutive time. As per ECI’s stats, he is leading with over 19,000 votes, leaving behind Jayedra Chand Ramola of the Indian National Congress.

Satpal Maharaj who is contesting from the Chaubattakhal constituency has gained a lead of 3,953 votes as per the Election Commission of India (ECI)'s website. He is contested against Congress's Keshar Singh. Chaubattakhal was one of the key constituencies where there was a strong sentiment of anti-incumbency and voter's discontent. Despite that, the BJP candidate has managed to continue its lead as per the latest trends.

Anupama Rawat, daughter of former chief minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat, is leading from her constituency as per the latest trends. She is contesting against Bharatiya Janata Party's Yatishwaranad. Anupama had gained a lead of 5,223.

BJP has continued with its lead in the latest trends with 44 seats, crossing the halfway mark. Congress, AAP and others are at 22, zero and four, respectively. As for Congress, Chief Minister Harish Rawat has been trailing from his constituency Lalkuan. His daughter, Anupama Rawat, is also contesting from the Haridwar Rural constituency. Meanwhile, the former CM handmade claims on the day of exit poll results and also in the morning today of Congress winning the elections with a majority.

After Harish Rawat, PCC chief Pritam Singh is confident that the Indian National Congress will win the elections with a clear mandate and will form a government. Before the counting of assembly elections began at 8 am, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took the blessings of his late father. Meanwhile, the latest trends show that Dhami's party is ahead of Congress and other parties.

As the counting is underway, the battle in Uttarakhand appears to be a close one between BJP and Congress.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami claimed that his party will win with over 60 seats. These claims were made by him soon after the exit polls results were out.

As per the latest trends, BJP is in the lead having an edge over its rival party, Congress. The trends show BJP at 36, Congress at 26 and AAP at one while the other parties and independent candidates are at zero.

The process of counting votes for the assembly elections in 2022 has begun. The assembly elections were contested over 70 constituency seats, of which some of the key constituencies include CM Pushkar Singh Dhami's Khatima constituency and former CM Harish Rawat's Lalkuan.

Former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat is contesting from the Lalkuan constituency. The Congress stalwart has claimed that his party will cross the halfway mark and gain the magic number of 36. He said so despite most of exit polls survey showing BJP as the single-largest party. But BJP too has not been shown crossing the mark either, as per the predictions.

Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party has chosen its chief ministerial candidate in the face of Col Ajay Kothiyal. The seat of Gangotri has always seen a battle between BJP and Congress. As for the two parties, they have placed their best on Suresh Singh Chauhan and Vijaypal Singh Sajwan, respectively. Previously, BJP's Gopal Singh Rawat had won the seat in the 2017 elections for BJP against Sajwan.

Rishikesh is a bastion of BJP's candidate, Prem Chand Aggarwal. Not once but thrice has Aggarwal won from this seat. It is for the fourth that he is contesting from the Rishikesh constituency. Once the results are declared, it will be known whether the Aggarwal has successfully been managed to continue with his winning streak or some other candidate was able to outthrow him.

Another assembly seat that will witness a lot of drama unfolding, is of Tehri seat. Dhan Singh Negi, who won the previous election also from the same seat, is contesting once again. However, instead of BJP, he is contesting on a Congress ticket. The INNC managed to rope him well in time before the elections were held o February 14. The Indian National Congress had batted Anukriti Gusian Rawat against BJP's sitting MLA Daleep Singh Rawat. This battle is fairly interesting to watch since Anukriti, a former Miss India Grand 2017 and daughter0in0law of ex-BJP minister Harak Singh Rawat (who joined Congress after he was expelled from BJP), is contesting the elections for the first time. The counting of results for all five state assembly elections, including Uttarakhand, will begin at 8 AM. All eyes are on chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's Khatima constituency from where he has been elected twice. This is for the third time that Dhami is contesting from this seat; whether will he make it a hat-trick or not, will be clear once the results are out. Meanwhile, as per the exit polls results, most surveys showed BJP as the single largest party. However, it has not been predicted to cross the halfway mark of 36. The exit polls predictions further predicted a hung assembly in Uttarakhand.
