According to Pennsylvania State Police, Hosso called his parents after killing Spatafore, confessing to the crime and threatening suicide. His parents alerted authorities around 1:15 a.m. Officers arrived to find Spatafore dead inside the residence. Using thermal drones, police later located Hosso’s body in the woods.

Spatafore sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while Hosso died from a single self-inflicted injury. The couple had married in September 2024 in Ohio, less than two years before the tragedy.

Community Shock

Both Hosso and Spatafore graduated from Seneca Valley High School in Harmony, Pennsylvania, just miles from their home in Seven Fields. Friends and neighbors described them as inseparable since their teenage years.

Spatafore, who graduated high school in 2019, went on to Duquesne University, earning her degree in health services summa cum laude in 2023. She was employed as a critical care physician assistant at UPMC Presbyterian at the time of her death.

Hosso’s career path was less clear. His LinkedIn profile listed work as a mechanical engineer at Vavco, a Pittsburgh-based firm in the oil and gas sector.

Police Investigation

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the murder-suicide. Hosso’s parents reported his erratic behavior during the call, but no prior public record of domestic disputes has surfaced.

The Cranberry Eagle reported that police relied on advanced drone technology to track Hosso’s movements after he fled the home. The case has drawn widespread attention in Butler County, where the couple’s ties to the community run deep.
