Child stolen from maternity hospital in Bengaluru; mother says doctors are turning the blame on her

A child theft case from a government-run hospital in Bengaluru has sent alarm bells that the security in these places are weak. Just two hours after giving birth, a mother complained about a child going missing from the hospital.

In a shocking incident, a new-born was stolen from a hospital ward while the mother was fast asleep after medication.

The incident occurred at Sirsi Circle Maternity Hospital on May 29.

According to the mother, 30-year-old Husna Banu, she was admitted to hospital after complaining of labour pains in the morning of May 29. At 7:45 am, she gave birth to a baby boy. To reduce her pain, she was given tablets. The baby was kept at her side while she fell asleep. But two hours later, she awoke to see that the baby was missing.

BBMP commissioner BH Anil Kumar, termed the incident as unfortunate, and said the hospital has filed a case and CCTV footage is being examined.
