PM Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plant at AIIMS in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, however what took everyone by surprise was that a day before, with help of PM CARES Fund, oxygen plants were inaugurated with fanfare by politicians in states.

On Wednesday, the Jharkhand and Delhi governments with the state ministers inaugurated multiple oxygen plants which were also built from the PM CARES fund.

“After perennially discrediting PM CARES, the opposition inaugurates PM CARES funded oxygen plants and takes credit for themselves,” a central government source said on the matter.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the newly installed PSA oxygen plant at Sadar Hospital in Ranchi.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his cabinet colleague Banna Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated the newly installed 100 liters per minute capacity ‘PSA Oxygen Plant’ as well as the newly constructed ‘Pressure Swing Absorption’ across the state from the ‘PM CARES Fund’.

The inauguration drew sharp criticism from Ranchi BJP MP Sanjay Seth who termed it as an insult to the Prime Minister.

“The PSA plants were constructed under the PM Cares Fund as part of the Central government efforts to battle Covid pandemic. The inauguration of the PSA plants in Jharkhand by the state government a day before the PM inauguration schedule defies logic. It is an insult to the Prime Minister,” said Seth.

CM Hemant Soren unfazed by the controversy went ahead and inaugurated the PSA oxygen plant in Ranchi and also inaugurated central pathology lab, 256 slice CT-Scan, Cobas 6800 machines at the RIMS Ranchi which were built with state government funding.

Kuljeet Singh Chahal, General Secretary of Delhi BJP, said most of the oxygen plants inaugurated by Delhi government ministers on Wednesday were funded from the PM CARES Fund and the state government was trying to hog the credit. Chahal also put out a video of some of these plants.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday dedicated 35 pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants to the nation across 35 states and Union Territories, built using PM CARES funds at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.
