Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the 82nd edition of his radio broadcast Mann Ki Baat during which he reiterated how significant the 100 crore vaccination milestone was for the country and how it was made possible by people's partnership and participation.

Here are highlights of his speech:

*  The success of the vaccination program shows the true potential of our country. It is only due to the hard work of lakhs of healthcare workers that India managed to cross the 100 crore vaccine dose milestone. Today, I express my gratitude to every Indian who took this campaign to greater heights and ensured the success of the 'Vaccine for all-Vaccine for free' campaign.

* Sardar Patel said that we can take the country to new great heights only with a united effort. If we do not have unity, then we will find ourselves trapped in more and more problems. So if there is national unity, we can attain newer heights and more development.

* Our country has a tradition of making colourful rangolis during festivals. The diversity of the country is seen through rangolis. The culture ministry will soon organize a national rangoli competition. If people make a rangoli linked to any moment during the freedom struggle at their door or on the wall, the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav -- the series of events organised by the government to commemorate 75 years of India's independence, will also increase.

* India has always strived for world peace. This is seen in our contribution to the UN peacekeeping forces. India is also working to make Yoga and traditional methods of wellness more popular. India will play a key role in making our planet a better place.

* According to statistics released by the Bureau of Police Research and Development, the number of women police personnel in the country has doubled. While the number of women police personnel was 1.05 lakh in 2014, today that number stands at 2.15 lakh. even in the Central Armed Police Force, the number of women personnel has doubled. They are today role models for millions of other women in the country.

* Drones have been capturing people's imagination in India. Young Indians and start-ups have been very interested in their use. The new drone policy is already showing great results. The drone sector was earlier filled with too many restrictions and regulations. This has been restructured in recent times.

* With so many festivals coming up, preparations also start beforehand. All of you must have started planning for shopping. But do you remember, shopping means 'Vocal For Local'. If you buy local, then it will not just be your festival that will be illuminated. Brightness will also come into the house of the poor, the artisans, the craftsmen and local manufacturers. I am sure that the campaign which we all have started together will be stronger this time in festivals.
