New Delhi: The Special Cell of the Delhi police and the Indian intelligence establishment arrested six alleged terror operatives in an elaborate multi-state operation who were planning to set off bombs in various parts of the country during the upcoming festival season.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said, "Pakistan-organised terror module has been busted."

Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Neeraj Kumar Thakur said the accused have been identified as Jaan Mohammad Shaikh, 47, alias ‘Sameer’, Osama, 22, Moolchand, 47, Zeeshan Qamar, 28, Mohd Abu Bakar, 23, and Mohd Amir Javed, 31. They were arrested from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Osama and Qamar, are Pakistan-trained terror operatives working under the instructions of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the police said.

Reports said Dawood Ibrahim's brother Anees was directly coordinating execution of the plot and handling recruitment, finance, transport and other logistical aspects through his underworld channels.

Meanwhile, Chhota Shakeel, the close aide of Dawood Ibrahim, has denied D Company's role in the Pakistan-organised terror module that was busted by Delhi Police's Special Cell.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Shakeel, who stays in Pakistan, said that the allegations against D Company are baseless.

While speaking to the news channel, Shakeel rejected the police’s claim that Dawood’s brother Anees was involved in the terror attacks planning.

We have nothing to do with the terror module that was busted by the Delhi Police, Chhota Shakeel said while asking the Indian investigative agencies to properly investigate.

The police recovered two hand grenades, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a kilogram of RDX, and a pistol of Italian make.

Sheikh and Moolchand, the "underworld component" of the module acting at the behest of Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence, was entrusted with two tasks, the police release said: transportation of arms and explosives and terror-funding through hawala channels. The Pakistan trained terror component, Osama and Qamar, was tasked with reconnaissance of targets and planting of IEDs.

Further nodes of this network are being identified, the release said.
