Former Prime Minister and veteran Congress leader Dr Manmohan Singh has been diagnosed with dengue, but his health condition is gradually improving and is out of danger, said an official at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday.

The 89-year-old former PM was hospitalised earlier this week after he complained of fever and weakness.

A team of cardiologists, under the guidance of Nitish Nayak, Dr Singh’s personal physician for years, are attending to the former PM.

The AIIMS official, while speaking to news agency IANS, said that the former Prime Minister's "platelets are increasing and is out of danger now".

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also visited him and enquired about his health.
