The Bharatiya Janata Party MP Varun Gandhi on Thursday shared the new viral video of the car running over a group of farmers who were protesting in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. While sharing the video, he called for "accountability for the innocent blood of farmers" and said the farmers were "murdered".

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the MP wrote: "The video is crystal clear. Protestors cannot be silenced through murder. There has to be accountability for the innocent blood of farmers that has been spilled and justice must be delivered before a message of arrogance and cruelty enters the minds of every farmer."

Earlier this week, in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri, a black SUV ploughed through a group of farmers holding a peaceful protest. Union Minister Ajay Mishra confirmed the car's identity as it belonged to his family. Several people were pushed to the ground as two more vehicles drive away to pursue the black SUV.

In another vehicle, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and his Chhattisgarh counterpart Bhupesh Baghel accompanied them, while Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Deepender Singh Hooda traveled separately.
