According to the latest update, the Mumbai Police will reportedly go through CCTV footage as per witnesses' claims against NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede. Also, a five-member vigilance team arrived in Mumbai to probe corruption allegations against the NCB Zonal chief.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police recorded independent witness Prabhakar Sail’s statement with the DCP Zone 1 office after which it all set to file FIR into the extortion allegations against Wankhede in connection with a drug bust case in which Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested on October 3.

Sail appeared before the city police on Tuesday evening and the process of recording his statement was completed at around 3 am on Wednesday, he said. He has been provided protection by the city police in the wake of revelations he made in his application, the official said.

There is a possibility that Mumbai Police may summon NCB officials to record their statements, after the FIR is registered. The prime accused in the case is likely to be KP Gosavi, who is accused of striking Rs 25 crore deal and giving some of the money to Sameer Wankhede in connection with Aryan Khan case.

Prabhakar Sail, who is the personal bodyguard of KP Gosavi, has alleged that an NCB official made him sign several papers at the agency's office in connection to the Aryan Khan case. He also claimed that he overheard a '18 crore extortion deal between Gosavi and one Sam D'Souza. Out of this, '8 crore was supposed to be paid to Sameer Wankhede, he alleged.

However, Sameer Wankhede has refuted the claim and said that attempts are being made to arrest him and derail the drugs bust probe. "From that time, there is a series of personal vendetta/vengeance targeted at me and my family members who are victims of such defamatory attacks and false, frivolous and vexatious allegations," an affidavit filed by the senior NCB official read.

Meanwhile, the Bombay high court is hearing the bail application of Aryan Khan, who was arrested by the NCB during a drug bust on a cruise ship on Wednesday. Aryan's lawyer Mukul Rohatgi argued that the star son was invited by Pratik Gaba who was like an organiser. He invited accused 1 Aryan and accused 2 Arbaaz Merchant. Both were invited by the same person. They both landed up together at the cruise terminal.
