Amit Shah to address first national cooperative conference in Delhi tomorrow

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘Sahakar se Samriddhi’, Shah will address more than 2000 people associated with the cooperative in the first of its kind and unique cooperative society.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah who also holds charge of the newly created Ministry of Cooperation, will address India's first cooperative conference to be held on September 25 at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘Sahakar se Samriddhi’, Shah will address more than 2000 people associated with the cooperative in the first of its kind and unique cooperative society.

While 8 crore will join the meet virtually, around 3 million cooperatives from 110 countries associated with the International Cooperative Alliance (Global) are also expected to join virtually, an IFFCO official said.

The event will also be attended by the Minister of State (MoS) for Cooperation, BL Verma, and the President of the International Cooperative Alliance (Global), Dr Ariel Guarco.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), this program will be telecast live on September 25, from 11 am onwards on the official social media platforms of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO), National Cooperative Federation of India, Amul, Sahakar Bharti, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), Krishak Bharati Cooperative (KRIBHCO) and other mediums and millions of people from India and abroad are expected to watch this program.

In a statement, the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) said, “India’s first cooperative conference is being organized by India’s leading cooperative organization IFFCO, National Cooperative Federation of India, Amul, Sahakar Bharti, NAFED, KRIBHCO and all cooperatives together.”

“Representatives from different states and various cooperative sectors across the country will participate in this conference and contribute towards realizing the dream of self-reliant India,” the statement said.

The Modi government carved out the Ministry of Cooperation from the Agriculture Ministry in July this year and Amit Shah is the first Cooperative Minister.

The conference will help in strengthening Indian cooperatives on the global stage. It will also work towards realising the aim of the Prime Minister's initiative 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'.
