Trio arrested from Hyderabad for suspected ISIS links

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths on Saturday arrested three terrorists on grounds of suspicion that they belong to the deadly Islamic terror outfit ISIS. The arrest was made from the busy Tolichowki area of Hyderabad.

The arrested trio has been identified as Abdul Malik, Fazlullah and Khayyum.

The plan to capture the trio involved as many as 300 cops drawn from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The large fleet of policemen first had to cordon off the area and took the trio into custody from Sun City, where they were living in a rented house.

They were then taken to Lucknow in UP for questioning.

In the recent past there have been instances of people with ISIS links getting arrested in Hyderabad. Earlier, a woman and few other recruiters were arrested and last year, Yasir Niamatullah, chief of Hyderabad module, and Athaullah Rehman, a motivator who raised funds, had been arrested by NIA from the Moghulpura area of the city.

The Telangana police counter-intelligence cell (CI Cell)  has been actively coordinating with the Uttar Pradesh and the Madhya Pradesh police to bust ISIS links in the country. The Telangana state police had also given a tip-off about a Kerala youth who was trying to get into ISIS to the NIA that led to arrest of many suspects.
