Tollywood artist spends night inside bathroom to escape molester

A 19-year-old character artist in Tollywood locked herself inside the bathroom of her house to escape a sexual assault. On April 22, a 35-year man forcefully entered the house of the victim and tried to molest the girl.

In her complaint, the victim stated that the accused is 35-year-old, Ratnakar, an employee of a vernacular channel. He entered the house of the victim in Yousufguda, Banjara Hills in Hyderabad, Telangana at the time when the victim walked out of the bathroom after taking a bath. The accused then allegedly grabbed the girl and tried to molest her. She fought back, managed to escape and locked herself in the bathroom, the Times of India reported.

The accused then tried to break the bathroom door. However, the girl screamed for help because of which the man left the house. But, since the girl was not sure whether the man left her house or not, she spent the night inside the bathroom.

Then on April 25, with the help of some neighbours, she went to the Banjara Hills police to file a complaint. The police registered a case under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Ratnakar and arrested him on April 26.

The accused Ratnakar is a neighbour of the victim, and he claimed that the victim is an acquaintance. But, the victim denied this claim, TOI quoted Banjara Hills inspector, K Srinivas, as saying.
