Jana Sena supremo Pawan Kalyan to contest in 2019 General elections

Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena supremo Pawan Kalyan with his recent tweet closed debates of his contesting or not contesting in the 2019 General elections. In his tweet on Monday he confirmed that his party would contest in the 2019 elections in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He tweeted that his party would contest according to their strength in 175 seats of the combined 294 seats in the two Telugu states. This created a tremor in the political scenario with each party trying to assimilate their strength and chances in the 2019 elections.

TDP (Telugu Desam Party) which till date was confident of Jana Sena’s support is now in a quandary with the announcement of Pawan. Jana Sena’s target would mainly be in AP as it doesn’t have much grip in Telangana. With the advent of Jana Sena in the fray for 2019 elections, there would be splitting of votes in the vote bank of the two major parties TDP and YSRCP (Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party).

TDP with the support of BJP and Jana Sena was able to secure only 1.6 percent majority over its opposition YSRCP in the previous 2014 elections. Pawan contesting in the 2019 elections would affect both Jagan and Chandrababu as both could possibly lose some seats.

But Pawan has never been active in politics and is busy with his acting career. So would he actively involve himself in politics after winning is a million dollar question. So whichever way one looks at it, it all depends on the voters who are the deciding factor.
