Class IX student with heavy bag collapses in school dies

A 14-year-old Class IX student, P Srivarshita, collapsed in her school premises on Monday at Karimabad in Warangal district. CCTV footage shows that the girl was carrying a heavy school bag on her back and climbing the stairs. On the third floor, she suddenly collapsed.

When other students informed the school staff, she was given firstaid before being rushed to the hospital. According to a report by the Deccan Chronicle, she suffered an injury on her forehead and started bleeding from the nose. Her parents were informed too. The doctors diagnosed her with very low BP and asked the school staff to shift her to MGM hospital. However, she breathed her last before reaching the hospital.

Agitated over the incident, the parents of the girl blamed the school authorities for delay in her treatment. Students' organisation backed the parents and staged a dharna in front of the school, demanding action against the school authorities. However, school principal K. Sridhar said that the girl was suffering from dehydration which led to her death. She was a student of Kautilya High School.
