A year ago, a man in the United Kingdom lost his phone after dropping it in a river. The individual now claims that the smartphone has been returned to him and is operational. In a Facebook post, Miguel Pacheco stated that he discovered an iPhone while kayaking along the Wye River in Wales. The man stated that he took the phone with him and carefully dried it. The next day, he charged the smartphone, and it was still operational, with a photo of a couple as the screen saver and the date August 13, 2021.

Pacheco then attempted to locate the smartphone's owner, who was situated in Edinburgh, UK, and delivered the device to his address. According to the owner of the smartphone, he lost it around 10 months ago when he and his fiancée fell into the river while canoeing. He stated that he was in a two-man boat when his buddy stood up, causing them to tumble inside the water. The phone slid out of the back pocket and fell into the water.

Pacheco used an aviation compressor to dry the gadget inside and out before storing it in an airing cupboard overnight. The phone's owner, Owain Davies, was likewise amazed by Pacheco's attempts to dry out the iPhone and bring it back to life.

The Apple iPhone has IP-rated dust and water resistance. It is unknown whose iPhone this was, although the current iPhone 12 (released in August 2021) and iPhone 13 both have IP68 dust and water resistance. However, this example demonstrates that the Apple iPhone may be able to withstand much more than a splash of water.
