The Tamil Nadu government would announce major reforms in education and the school system on June 6, a day ahead of the scheduled opening of the schools across the state. And the government may make it compulsory for all state government employees to enrol their children in government run schools only.

A government source told The New Indian Express, “More than 40 changes have been proposed, and one among them is that government employees, including all staff of government schools, should enrol their children only in government schools. However, the final call will be taken only after holding discussions with the Chief Minister.”

Educationist Prince Gajendra Babu was of the opinion that before implementing this idea, the state government should ensure enough teachers in government schools.

The government is even mulling to transfer the teachers of government schools every five years to prevent them from settling in their hometowns. And the teachers also grow prejudiced towards students living in their locality.

The Uttar Pradesh government also came out with a similar ruling, but the high court stayed the order.
