Unruly behaviour: On February 18, 2017, the trust vote event was held in the assembly. DMK MLAs were said to have created a ruckus during the same. A complaint was given to the Speaker by AIADMK MLA Vetrivel with regards to the behaviour.
It was stated that the DMK MLAs had violated the rules of the Assembly, and hence through the fundamental rights committee, an immediate action should be taken against their disorderly conduct.
Following this, the petition was sent to the fundamental rights committee by the Speaker.
A notice has been sent to the MLAs Ku.Ka. Selvam, Masthan, Ravichandren, Murugan, Ambedkumar, Karthikeyan and Suresh Kumar. They were asked reply to the notice before June 23, 2017.
The MLAs tendered their apology letter to the Speaker.
Earlier, the committee had held a meeting on this and had decided to suspend those MLAs. The report was submitted to the Assembly by Deputy Speaker Jeyaraman. But since the MLAs have sought forgiveness from the Speaker, they were not handed a suspension but were let go with a warning not to repeat the same.
