Palaniswamy proposes a solar-powered park for Rs 2350 cr
- The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi Palaniswami has made an announcement on setting up a power park at Ramanathapuram.

FollowOn Thursday, the Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami has made an announcement on setting up a power park at Ramanathapuram. He has declared this initiative under the TN Assembly Rule No 110.
He said, “Adequate power supply is very important in life. This state has overcome a severe power crisis due to various steps taken by our government. We have fulfilled the promise we made during the 2016 election campaign by providing 100 free units of electricity.”
An ultra solar photovoltaic power park would be established at Kadalai in Ramanathapuram district at an estimated amount of Rs 2,350 crores. A 400 kilowatt substation would be set up at the cost of Rs.1300 crore in Koyambedu, Chennai.
The existing 230 kilowatt substation at Taramani would be upgraded as a 400 kilowatt substation. In order to improve the electricity infrastructure in Chennai, Rs. 1800 crore is allocated to set up 31 substations and to change 314 high voltage transformers.
Apart from this, a 400 kilowatt substation would be set at Manalmedu in Nagapattinam at a a ccost of Rs. 650 crore. The electricity department will also undertake strengthening and up gradation work. A multi logistics park worth Rs 1,295 crore would be set in Tiruvallur district.
Throughout the state, 128 substations would be set up at an estimated cost of Rs 1347 crore. A deal has been signed with the Energy Efficiency Service limited. At the cost of 11 thousand crore the upcoming projects would be carried out within the three years of time.
