Tamil Nadu: Chief Minister negates the need for CBI probe in bribe video scam

  • The Koovathur video expose revealed that AIADMK MLAs were paid bribes by party’s general secretary Sasikala

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister negates the need for CBI probe in bribe video scam

The Chief Minister has replied to the petition that demands the probe of CBI on Koovathur video scam controversy, stating that the CBI probe is not needed.

Before conducting the ‘Trust Vote’ event in the Assembly, the MLAs were locked up in a resort in Koovathur. 

After which, E.Palaniswami was reported to have won the trust vote in the Assembly with 122 MLAs voting in favour.

Meanwhile, a controversial video of MLA Saravanan was released. The expose revealed that AIADMK MLAs were paid bribes by party’s general secretary Sasikala.

Regarding which a petition on the probe of CBI on this video scam was filed by the opposition party leader Stalin. In reply to that, the Chief Minister said, “Trust vote works within the jurisdiction of the Speaker and hence the CBI cannot intervene on this issue.”

On hearing this, the DMK has requested time to reply on the same, and the case has been postponed until next week.
